Another student's body found in IIT Guwahati hostel, uproar in campus, 4 students died this year

The body of a third year student was found in the hostel of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. After this incident, there was a stir in the campus. The deceased student has been identified as 21-year-old Bimalesh Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He was a B.Tech Computer Science student.

On Monday, his body was found in a room in Brahmaputra Hostel. At present, it is being told as a suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem to confirm the cause of death. This is the fourth death incident this year in this prestigious institute. Angry students started protesting over the death of the student.

On hearing the news of the student's death, anger spread among other students and soon they started protesting in the campus. Students are now raising questions about the mental health and welfare support system of the college. Let us tell you that on August 9, the body of Soumya, an M.Tech student from Uttar Pradesh, was recovered from the hostel. The institute had also termed it a suicide. After this, the institute had announced several measures to address student welfare concerns.

A spokesperson of the institute said about the incident, 'IIT Guwahati is deeply saddened to inform about the death of a student. We express our condolences to the student's family, friends and loved ones in this difficult time.' He further said, 'We encourage students to reach out to their support network. We are committed to promoting a supportive and safe environment for all students.'
