The woman, hired to care for the dog, tried to cover up the act but was exposed through footage.

The incident occurred in an apartment building within the jurisdiction of the Bagalur Police Station. The pet owner, Raashi Poojari, filed a police complaint against the accused, identified as Pushpalatha (also reported as Pupalatha), who had been employed to take care of the dog.
Pushpalatha was paid a monthly salary and provided with accommodation and food for her services. However, CCTV footage revealed her brutally smashing the puppy multiple times inside the lift.
Incident Details and CCTV Revelation
According to police, the act took place on October 31, but came to light only recently when the CCTV footage surfaced. The video shows the accused swinging and repeatedly slamming the small dog, named Goofy, onto the floor while inside the elevator.
After killing the puppy, Pushpalatha was seen carrying the pet’s lifeless body out of the lift. She later fabricated a story, claiming that Goofy had accidentally fallen while stepping out. However, the pet owner’s inquiry with building security led to the discovery of the shocking footage.
FIR Filed and Investigation Underway
Following the discovery, Raashi Poojari lodged a police complaint at the Bagalur Police Station. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Police have begun an investigation into the incident, and animal welfare organizations have demanded strict action against the accused.
Outrage from Animal Lovers and Activists
The video has triggered massive condemnation across Bengaluru and beyond. Animal welfare activists have called the act “barbaric” and urged authorities to tighten laws protecting animals from domestic abuse.
