Udaipur Brutal Murder Case Kanhaiyalal Wife Writes an Emotional Letter to PM Modi

Udaipur Brutal Murder Case: The controversy surrounding the film “Udaipur Files”, based on the brutal murder of tailor Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur, Rajasthan, has intensified. Following a court-imposed ban on the film—prompted by Muslim organizations and their advocate Kapil Sibal—Kanhaiyalal’s wife Jashoda has written a heartfelt letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pleading for the film’s release.

She asserts that the film truthfully portrays the real story of her husband’s murder and contains no falsehoods.

A Wife’s Painful Plea

In her emotional letter, Jashoda writes: “The film made on my husband’s murder has been stopped in court by Muslim organizations and their lawyer Kapil Sibal. I have watched the film myself—it’s a true account of his killing.

Three years ago, they killed him, and now Kapil Sibal says even showing it in a film isn’t allowed. My children are saying the Modi government will now decide the fate of the film.

You already know how much injustice was done to us, and now, it is those same people who are approaching the court.

I humbly request you to allow the release of this film so the world can know the truth.”

Jashoda also requested a meeting with PM Modi, expressing her wish to come to Delhi with her children. She wrote:

“I would like to visit Delhi with both my children and meet you personally. Please grant us an appointment.”

Why the Court Stopped the Film’s Release

Udaipur Files was scheduled for release on July 11, but just a day prior, the Delhi High Court stayed its release. The court granted two days’ time to the petitioners to seek the Centre’s stand on the matter.

The petition was filed by the accused in the Kanhaiyalal murder case, who argued that the film’s release could jeopardize the fairness of their trial. Taking this into consideration, a bench comprising Justice D.K. Upadhyay and Justice Anish Dayal ordered a temporary stay on the release.

The 2022 Udaipur Murder

In June 2022, tailor Kanhaiyalal was murdered in broad daylight in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The accused, Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Ghaus, were arrested for the gruesome act.

Following the murder, the attackers released a video claiming responsibility. They stated that they had killed Kanhaiyalal for posting content in support of Nupur Sharma, a former BJP spokesperson who had made controversial remarks about the Prophet Muhammad.

According to the assailants, Kanhaiyalal’s social media post supporting Sharma prompted them to commit the murder.

This case, which shook the nation in 2022, has once again come into the spotlight amid a legal and political storm over the film Udaipur Files, with the victim’s family now directly appealing to the Prime Minister for justice and truth to prevail.
