Rajasthan ATS officer commits suicide after killing woman

Jaipur: Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer Ashish Prabhakar allegedly killed a woman before committing suicide with his service revolver in an SUV in Jagatpura region of Jaipur on Thursday evening.

According to media reports, the Rajasthan ATS officer, in his two-page suicide note, apologised to his wife for opting the wrong path and claimed that he was being blackmailed by the killed woman and some other people.

Ashish Prabhakar was an additional superintendent of police in the ATS. He was found dead along with the unidentified woman inside a locked car with bullet injuries on their foreheads.

Reportedly, the officer had already notified the police control room to monitor a suspicious SUV at the incident spot. He committed suicide later.

The Rajasthan ATS officer, in his suicide note, claimed that he was being harassed by a few people, including the killed woman. He also mentioned a few contact numbers as well as Facebook profiles.

Their dead bodies were taken for post-mortem after the initial investigation by forensic experts. The preliminary probe suggests both had a heated argument before the incident.

It is to be recalled that Prabhakar was a key member of the team which arrested Mohammad Sirajuddhin, who was seen as an ISIS sympathiser.

Prabhakar had joined field duties at the Rajasthan Police Academy recently.
