PM Narendra Modi made extensive trips for 'Mission South', visited this state the most

Prime Minister Modi increased the number of visits to these states in the last two years of his second term. The Prime Minister made a total of 928 domestic visits during both his tenures.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been struggling to increase its presence in South India for the last several years. This can also be seen in the visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to five states of South India. Prime Minister Modi increased the number of visits to these states in the last two years of his second term. The Prime Minister made a total of 928 domestic visits during both his tenures. He traveled the most in 2019 and traveled the least in 2020.

According to the data given on the website of the Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the states of South India 146 times between 26 May 2014 and 17 April 2024. South India includes the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. He visited these states 73-73 times during both his tenures. He made one-third of these visits in the last three years. Of these, 13 trips were made in 2022, 23 in 2023 and 23 in 2024 (till April 17). Of the visits made by the Prime Minister in the country during both his tenures, 14 percent of the visits were to South India. This percentage increased to 18 percent in the second term.
