JDS leader HD Revanna accused of kidnapping the woman seen in 'sex clip'

Former Karnataka minister HD Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna seem to be in new trouble. A case has been registered based on the complaint of a youth, alleging that his mother has been kidnapped after a video of Prajwal allegedly raping her surfaced. Mysuru Police said that the case was registered on Thursday night. HD Revanna, who is the JD(S) MLA from Holenarasipura constituency in Hassan district, is the son of former prime minister and JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda and elder brother of former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.

Prajwal Revanna, the current JD(S) MP from Hassan, is accused of sexual exploitation of women. After several obscene video clips allegedly involving the 33-year-old MP surfaced in recent times, the state government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter. He is the NDA candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, where voting was held on April 26. JD(S) had joined NDA in September last year.

A case of molestation is already registered against Prajwal Revanna in Holenarasipura police station. According to State Home Minister G. Parmeshwar, another complaint was filed on Wednesday night. However, in the latest case registered on Thursday night, the 20-year-old complainant from Krishnaraja Nagar town in Mysore district said that his mother was kidnapped by Revanna.

The youth said that six years ago his mother used to work at Revanna's residence in Holenarsipura. Three years ago, she quit her job and returned to her hometown. About five days ago, Revanna's confidant Satish Babanna came to her house and said that the police could come to her for questioning and she did not have to tell anything. The complainant said, “On April 29, around 9 pm, Satish Babanna came to our house and said that if your mother is caught, you will be in trouble and you all can go to jail. Revanna asked me to take you. Then he took her on a motorcycle."

The complainant said that he did not know where his mother had been taken. However, on May 1, she said she received a call from her friends, who told her that a video had surfaced showing her mother tied with a rope and allegedly raped by Prajwal. The complainant said that his mother's life was in danger and he sought help from the police to find out where his mother was.

KR Nagar police under Mysuru rural sub-division registered a case of kidnapping, wrongful confinement and collusion against HD Revanna and Satish Babanna. Responding to the case and allegations, Revanna had said on Wednesday, "I have the strength to face these conspiracies. I will face it (the investigation). There is no need to worry. I have done nothing wrong. I am ready for this." I am ready to fight any investigation legally."
