Severe cold grips Northern India, Fog disrupts trains, flights

Met office predicted severe cold wave in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Delhi and other places on Sunday.

Severe cold wave conditions prevailed in several states in northern India as day temperature plumetted sharply in many parts affecting normal life.

A dense fog engulfed large parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi as a result of which the visibility remained very poor.

According to the reports day temperature hovered around 21 degrees while temperatures in the nights dropped to 10 degrees.

Met office predicted severe cold wave in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Delhi and other places on Sunday. It also said foggy conditions would continue in the next few days.

On Saturday also a dense fog engulfed the state resulting in chilling conditions. The fog also affected movement of trains and flights.

Many long distance trains were running late by several hours causing hardships to the people. Operations of flights were also affected and many flights were cancelled owing to poor visibility at the airports.

An orange alert wad sounded in many districts in UP.
