Chhattisgarh High Court has given an important decision regarding live in relationship. The court has called live in relationship a 'stigma'. The court has said that this is a disgrace to Indian culture. The High Court (Chhattisgarh High Court) said in its comment that this is the thinking brought by the Western country, which is contrary to the general expectations of Indian customs. Chhattisgarh High Court gave this decision in a case related to Dantewada.

The double bench of Justice Gautam Bhaduri and Sanjay S Aggarwal made strict remarks in the case of custody of a child born out of a live-in relationship. Actually, the father had filed a petition in the High Court regarding the custody of the child. After hearing the same case, the court rejected this petition. Making a strong comment, the court said that live-in relationship, adopted in some sections of the society, still continues to be a stigma in Indian culture, because live-in relationship is an imported concept, which is contrary to the general expectations of Indian custom.

The court said that it is very easy for a married person to come out of a live-in relationship. In such cases, the court cannot close its eyes to the plight of the survivor of the said torturous live-in relationship and the children born out of that relationship. The court has termed this relationship as against Indian beliefs.
