CBI busts major bribery scandal at Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Arrests nine, including two doctors

According to officials, the CBI has arrested medical equipment supplier Naresh Nagpal of Nagpal Technologies, who was to pay Rs 2.48 lakh to Parvat Gowda to promote the sale of his company's medical equipment.

The CBI busted a major bribery scandal in Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and arrested nine people, including two senior cardiologists. This action of CBI was the result of a technical surveillance based campaign. CBI resorted to fake patients to verify its information before taking action. Helped in getting to the bottom of this matter. The investigation into the case also confirmed the payment methods, mainly UPI, bank transfer and cash transactions.

According to officials, Professor Ajay Raj and Assistant Professor Parvat Gowda Channappa Gowda of the Department of Cardiology have been arrested for accepting bribes from suppliers of medical equipment in exchange for using their products and stents. According to officials, the CBI has arrested medical equipment supplier Naresh Nagpal of Nagpal Technologies, who was to pay Rs 2.48 lakh to Parvat Gowda to promote the sale of his company's medical equipment.

He claimed that Bharat Singh of Bharti Medical Technologies was a broker who bribed Ajay Raj several times using UPI. Abrar Ahmed who bribed Rajneesh Kumar, in-charge of 'Cath Lab' in the hospital. The agency claimed that on April 23, Parvatagowda asked Abrar Ahmed to pay the bribe amount as soon as possible as he was going to Europe during summer holidays.

The breakthrough in the case came when Dr Parvatgowda, one of the two arrested doctors, allegedly contacted a person named Akarsh Gulati, who worked for Gurgaon-based Biotronics. The CBI found out that the doctor had instructed Gulati to deliver bribes in return for the favors he had done for Biotronics. On which he assured the doctor that he would deliver the bribe through an employee named Monica.

The CBI FIR states, "Parvatagowda contacted Monica as per the deal and asked for Rs 36,000 and the rest in cash through UPI." Parvatagowda had allegedly demanded bribe from Abrar Ahmed, director of M/s Signamed Pvt. Ltd. It was also told in this FIR that this bribe was for the promotion of medical equipment supplied by him.

Ahmed transferred the bribe amount to the bank account specified by Dr. Parvat Gowda. The CBI investigated this transaction and found that Ahmed had transferred Rs 1.95 lakh from his account to an account created in the name of the doctor's father. After this Ahmed assured Parvatagouda that he would deliver the demanded bribe as soon as possible. The investigation also revealed that Bharti Medical Technology, a Delhi-based company, supplied various medical equipment for medical procedures to RML Hospital.

The firm's representative Bharat Singh Dalal, professor of cardiology at the hospital, was in touch with the other arrested doctor, Ajay Raj. It is also mentioned in the same FIR, "Dr. Ajay Raj demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the broker to promote the medical equipment supplied by him. Ajay Raj sent the bank account details to the broker. Ajay Raj in the same account Asked for Rs 35,000 from the broker and it was transferred."
