Gandhinagar: Indian Coast Guard ship Samudra Pavak on Sunday morning apprehended a Pakistani boat with nine crew members aboard from Arabian Sea off the Gujarat coast.

According to preliminary inquiry, the onboard persons were reportedly fishermen. Moreover, the boat and the crew have been taken to Porbandar for further investigation.

“The primary information indicates them (the crew) to be Pakistani fishermen. Now, we are escorting them to Porbandar for further joint probe,” said Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman in a statement.

It may be noted that surveillance across the 1,600Km-long coastline has been intensified in the wake of the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday last. Ships and aircraft have been deployed by the Coast Guard to enhance vigil along the coast.
