Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi late Wednesday night. Sources gave this information. A source said, "His condition is stable and he has been kept under observation."

The former Deputy Prime Minister has been admitted to the old private ward of AIIMS and it is being said that the doctors of the Urology Department are treating him. However, no clear information has been given immediately about his illness.

Advani is among the veteran leaders of BJP. He was born on 8 November 1927 in Sindh province of Pakistan. When the country became independent in 1947, LK Advani could not celebrate this independence due to being in Pakistan and he was forced to leave his house. After the partition of the country, he came from Karachi to Delhi and started campaigning for the Sangh in Rajasthan. He worked as a Sangh Pracharak for a long time. From 1947 to 1951, he organized Sangh programs in Bharatpur, Alwar, Bundi, Kota and Jhalawar as RSS Secretary of Karachi branch.

From the year 1951 when Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee founded the Jan Sangh, Advani remained the party secretary till the year 1957. Then from 1973 to 1977 he served as the President of Jansangh. When the Bharatiya Janata Party was founded in 1980, he was its founding member. Advani was the General Secretary of BJP from 1980 to 1986. He was the BJP President from 1986 to 1991. Advani was the President of BJP thrice. He was a Lok Sabha MP 5 times and a Rajya Sabha MP 4 times. He became a minister at the Centre for the first time from 1977 to 1979. During this time, he took charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Advani is the leader who started the culture of 'yatras' in politics. When the demand for Ram temple in Ayodhya was at its peak, LK Advani started a Rath Yatra from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya, due to which the politics of Hindutva started emerging in the country's politics. However, the then Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav got him arrested in Samastipur. After this incident, LK Advani emerged as a hero in politics.
