PM Modi's Mega Rally Sparks Political Buzz in Western UP Ahead of Elections

Update: 2024-03-31 09:02 GMT

The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is heating up ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The first phase of voting is scheduled for the eight constituencies of Western Uttar Pradesh, leading to intensified political activities in the region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to kickstart BJP's electoral campaign with a rally in Meerut, considered the epicenter of revolutionary fervor.

The rally is expected to significantly impact the political dynamics of Western Uttar Pradesh, especially as Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary will share the stage with PM Modi for the second time in nearly 15 years. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present, lending further momentum to BJP's electoral efforts. Notably, PM Modi launched his electoral campaigns from Meerut in both 2014 and 2019, and he continues this tradition in 2024.

PM Modi's rally at the Central Potato Research Institute grounds in Modipuram this afternoon will showcase the strength of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). To ensure the success of the rally, BJP and RLD leaders and officials have been stationed in Meerut for the past three days. Pradesh BJP President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary also visited Meerut on Saturday to assess the preparations for the rally.

This marks the third occasion PM Modi will commence his electoral campaign from Meerut, aiming to bolster BJP's electoral prospects not only in Meerut and Hapur but also in the aforementioned Lok Sabha constituencies. BJP sources indicate that today's rally will strengthen the party's electoral prospects in these constituencies.

In the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, BJP secured victories in only three out of the eight constituencies in the first phase. The party won in Muzaffarnagar, Kairana, and Pilibhit, while the opposition emerged victorious in the remaining seats. Therefore, BJP is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a strong performance across all 80 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh this time.

Significantly, all RLD legislators will be present at today's rally in Meerut. National General Secretary of RLD, Sukhbir Singh Gathwana, confirmed that preparations for the rally have been completed, and all RLD legislators have been instructed to attend. He also emphasized the participation of party workers from the surrounding Lok Sabha areas.

As the nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha seats have concluded, there are 80 candidates remaining in the fray. Four candidates withdrew their nominations on Saturday, leaving 73 men and 7 women in contention. Kairana has the highest number of 14 candidates, while Rampur and Nagina have only six candidates each remaining.

In conclusion, PM Modi's rally in Meerut signifies the beginning of BJP's electoral campaign in Western Uttar Pradesh, aiming to replicate the success of previous elections. With key leaders from BJP and RLD joining forces, the rally is expected to set the stage for a fiercely contested electoral battle in the region.
