Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has clarified that there is no shortage of LPG, petrol, or diesel in the state. He directed officials to ensure smooth gas cylinder supply and take strict action against anyone involved in hoarding or black marketing. Authorities have also been asked to register FIRs immediately if such illegal activities are found.
Government Responds to LPG Shortage Rumours
Recently some rumours started spreading about LPG shortages in parts of Uttar Pradesh. These reports created concern among people, especially families who depend on gas cylinders for daily cooking.
During a high-level review meeting with officials and oil company representatives, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the situation is normal. According to him, the shortage reports are exaggerated and largely based on rumours.
He asked authorities to share accurate information with the public so that confusion does not spread. When people know the real situation, panic buying usually stops. And that helps maintain supply balance as well.
Officials also confirmed during the meeting that petrol and diesel supply across the state remains completely normal.
Strict Action Against Black Marketing
The Chief Minister took a firm stance against illegal activities linked to LPG distribution. He clearly instructed officials to file FIRs against distributors or individuals involved in hoarding or black marketing of gas cylinders.
Black marketing usually happens when someone stores cylinders illegally and sells them at higher prices. This creates an artificial shortage in the market. Yogi Adityanath said such practices will not be tolerated.
If required, police personnel may also be deployed at LPG distributor centres to ensure smooth and fair distribution. The idea is simple. Consumers who booked cylinders must receive them on time without unnecessary delays.
Focus on Smooth LPG Distribution
The government has asked oil companies and district authorities to work closely together. Proper coordination between departments will help keep supply running smoothly across Uttar Pradesh.
Officials were also told to make sure domestic LPG consumers get priority. Households should receive their cylinder refills according to booking schedules.
Another important instruction was about communication. Consumers should be informed about the expected delivery date of their LPG refill. This small step can reduce anxiety and prevent unnecessary rumours.
Sometimes delays in delivery cause confusion, and people assume supply is running out. Better communication solves many of those issues.
Backup Plan with Kerosene Supply
To prepare for any unexpected situation, the state government has also arranged backup fuel supplies. Uttar Pradesh has been allocated around 80 lakh litres of kerosene.
This fuel can be distributed if needed as an alternative energy source. While LPG remains the primary cooking fuel, having a backup plan helps the government manage emergencies.
Officials also suggested that some institutions like hostels, hospitals, dharmshalas, hotels, and business establishments may use alternative fuels where possible. Doing this can reduce pressure on domestic LPG supply.
24×7 Monitoring Across Districts
The state government is also strengthening monitoring systems to keep track of the situation. Control rooms will be set up in every district to monitor LPG supply around the clock.
District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, District Supply Officers, and oil company representatives will work together to ensure everything runs smoothly. Law and order will also be maintained during cylinder distribution if crowds gather.
Authorities were also asked to monitor social media posts and videos that could spread panic. False information online sometimes spreads faster than real updates.
For everyday consumers though, the message from the government is simple. LPG supply in Uttar Pradesh remains stable. Gas cylinders will continue to be delivered normally, and strict action will be taken against anyone trying to create artificial shortages.
