Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the city has now become a true symbol of the popular phrase “Muskuraiye, Aap Lucknow Mein Hain” (Smile, you are in Lucknow), highlighting the rapid development and modernization of the state capital.
The Chief Minister made the remarks while inaugurating the Green Corridor project and laying the foundation stone for several development works aimed at improving infrastructure and connectivity in the city.
Focus on Connectivity and Modern Infrastructure
Speaking at the event, the CM said that a state capital should provide residents with convenience, efficient transportation, and modern infrastructure. According to him, these features are now clearly visible in Lucknow.
He credited Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for providing the vision for improved connectivity in the city, which was implemented by the Lucknow Development Authority.
The project is expected to make the city’s traffic system more organized and efficient while offering better commuting facilities to residents.
Green Corridor Built Without Separate Budget
The Chief Minister revealed that the ambitious Rs 1,519 crore Green Corridor project was completed without allocating a separate government budget. Instead, the funds were generated by reclaiming government land that had been illegally encroached upon and using those resources for development.
He described the project as an example of effective resource management that allowed large infrastructure initiatives to be completed efficiently.
Major Road Projects Shaping Lucknow’s Expansion
The CM also spoke about important road projects that have contributed to the city’s transformation.
He noted that during the government led by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lucknow received Shaheed Path, while Kisan Path was later constructed with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
These projects have helped establish Lucknow as a city with modern road connectivity and have laid the foundation for its future expansion.
Emerging Hub for Technology and Defence
The Chief Minister also highlighted Lucknow’s growing role in technology and defence manufacturing. He pointed out that the establishment of the BrahMos missile project in the city has opened employment opportunities for youth educated in engineering colleges, polytechnics, and technical institutions in the state.
The project is expected to strengthen Lucknow’s position as a centre for innovation and advanced industry.
Plan to Develop State Capital Region
Looking ahead, the government plans to develop Lucknow and its surrounding areas into a State Capital Region, which would accelerate the development of both the city and nearby districts.
Yogi Adityanath expressed confidence that Uttar Pradesh will play a significant role in India’s growth story and said that Lucknow will continue evolving as a hub for connectivity, investment, technology, and modern infrastructure
