Revanth Reddy who led the Congress to a resounding victory in Telangana will be sworn as the chief minister of the state on Friday.

Revanth who is also the state unit president of the Congress, enjoys a clean image and is considered close to the Gandhi family.

Congress announced Reddy as Telangana Chief Minister on Tuesday setting December 7 for his oath ceremony.

The party, however, had not revealed about Deputy Chief Minister and the roles and responsibilities of other leaders.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge gave this decision over other candidates like Bhatti Vikramarka and N Uttam Kumar Reddy.

“I wholeheartedly express my gratitude to…Kharge-ji, Mother of Telangana our beloved Soniamma, ever inspiring leader Rahul Gandhi, charismatic Priyanka Gandhi Vadra…KC Venugopal…DK Shivakumar…Manikrao Thakre, and last but not the least our congress soldiers who stood by us through thick and thin,” Revanth said.

According to media reports, Venugopal also held a meeting with Vikramarka and Uttam Kumar, Shivakumar, and Thakre on their future roles as well as the composition of the government. As per the reports, Reddy may visit Delhi soon to meet with the central leadership to give a final touch to his team.

In a statement, Venugopal said "Kharge has chosen Revanth, a dynamic leader who campaigned extensively in Telangana along with other senior leaders”.

"The government under Revanth would be a clear cut clean and very energetic and able government, which will implement all the “guarantees” promised by the Congress, he said.

Before this, Reddy wanted his oath ceremony on December 9 as former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi have her birthday on this date. But after some discussion the date was finalized as December 7.
