There was high drama in the Telangana unit of Congress when the party released its first list of 55 candidates for the 119 assembly seats in the state.

Amid protests, effigy burning and tears, the situation worsened to such an extent that top leaders were forced to close the party headquarters at Gandhi Bhawan in Hyderabad.

This uproar came 3 days before the start of the Congress Bus Yatra proposed from October 18. It has happened before, in which Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are going to participate.

Congress was hoping that for the time being it would stay away from controversies regarding tickets in its first list, but this could not happen.

To stop the press conference of Mallu Ravi, a group of people entered Gandhi Bhavan, due to which he was forced to come out. People angry over ticket distribution burnt the effigy of PCC chief Revanth Reddy, after which the Congress headquarters was locked down.

In Uppal, Ragidi Lakshma Reddy cried after learning that his political rival M Parameshwara Reddy would contest from Uppal. He said in a trembling voice, “I am not afraid of you, Revanth Reddy. I formed the party here when the party was weak. Because you were the PCC chief, I respected you but you left me for an outsider, a new member.

During this time, his supporters sitting and standing around him in the press conference were seen wiping their eyes. Another candidate from Uppal, Singireddy Somasekhara Reddy, announced that he would launch a campaign across the state with the slogan "Remove Revanth, save Congress". He called upon those opposing Revanth Reddy to join him.

Another incident took place in Medchal where supporters of other candidates clashed with a group led by Thotakura Vajresh Yadav. It is noteworthy that Vajresh Yadav's name is in the first list of candidates.
