Lucknow: In a landmark decision against noise pollution, the Allahabad High Court on Sunday directed the Uttar Pradesh police to take out all the loudspeakers installed at the religious places without the requisite permission from state authorities.
Additionally, the HC bench also asserted that prior permission from the authorities is necessary to play loudspeakers on any particular occasion.
The court had earlier questioned the Uttar Pradesh government, saying, "Who has given the order for the use of loudspeakers at religious places."
After the HC's directive, IG (Law and Order) issued a circular to the SPs-SSPs across the state to immediately begin the removal of loudspeakers at the religious places.

Earlier in December 2017, the Allahabad HC had ordered the Bijnor district administration to remove the loudspeakers, installed without requisite permission, from a mosque and the Ravidass temple in Madanpur.
The decision had led to tension in the region as Muslim community members had even tried to stop the police from removing the loudspeakers from their religious place. It could only be done after the deployment of heavy police force.
