New York: United States researchers have discovered a bio-marker in the urine samples of patients with Parkinson's disease which can help in its better treatment .
Scientists at the University of Alabama at Birmingham found LRRK2 protein in the urine of Parkinson's patients, which suggest that the bio-marker may act as a possible guide for the real time treatment of this disease.
"This LRRK2 (pronounced lark two) in bio-fluid and it is found inside neurons in the brain," Andrew West said, Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the US, said.
A bio-marker helps physicians predict, diagnose or monitor disease, because the bio-marker corresponds to the presence or risk of disease, and its levels may change as the disease progresses.
