New Delhi: Former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was arrested in Pakistan in 2016, has been sentenced to death over the charges of spying by a Pakistan court.

Earlier, the Pakistan government had quashed India's request to extradite Kulbhushan Jadhav. The Indian naval official was reportedly arrested in Balochistan after he entered the country from Iran.

Pakistan foreign affairs advisor Sartaj Aziz has blamed the Indian officer of being indulged in "subversive and terrorist activities in Pakistan".

Earlier in March 2016, Islamabad had released a video claiming that it was a video conference of Kulbhushan Jadhav which divulged how India conspires violence and separatism in the restive province of Balochistan.

India has accepted that Jadhav is a retired Indian Navy officer, but has claimed that he is in no way connected to the government.
