"Flight operations at Delhi airport may be affected due to dense fog. Passengers are requested to contact the respective airlines for updated flight information," the airport authority said in a post on 'X'. "Deeply regret any inconvenience."

According to flight tracker website Flightradar24, around 110 flights were delayed and 79 flights were cancelled at Delhi airport. Major airlines like Indigo, SpiceJet and Vistara said that flights may be affected due to bad weather in Delhi and Kolkata.

Dense fog blanketed Delhi and other parts of North India on Sunday and visibility levels dropped to zero meters at many places. A total of 10 flights were diverted due to low visibility due to dense fog at Delhi airport on Sunday morning and around 100 flights were delayed and some were cancelled.

According to an official statement from IndiGo Airlines, “Due to low visibility and dense fog conditions across North India, IndiGo flight operations were affected on January 14, 2024.

During December 25-28 last year, due to dense fog, flight operations at Delhi airport were significantly affected and around 60 flights of various airlines were diverted.

Recently, aviation regulator DGCA had issued show cause notices to 'Air India' and 'SpiceJet' for not deploying pilots trained in landing aircraft in low visibility conditions.
