Russia confirms 7 people infected with H5N8 deadly bird flu

New Delhi: In Russia, the first case of the deadly flu virus has reached humans. Vector Research Center of Russia has confirmed that H5N8 virus has been found in 7 people in their country. All these people used to work in the same poultry form.

Since then, Russia's health agencies have been tracking all those infected persons in isolation by keeping them in contact. Earlier, no cases of human infection with bird flu were confirmed.

Russia confirms 7 cases of H5N8 virus:

Scientist Anna Popova of the Vector Research Center has told Russian media that the first case of human infection from H5N8 strain of avian influenza A virus has been confirmed in Russia. Scientists have isolated seven employees of a poultry farm in the south of Russia after being infected.

Bird flu was wreaked havoc in the region in December 2020. Anna Popova told that all seven people are feeling fine. Only very mild signs of infection are seen inside them. Nevertheless, they have been kept in isolation as a precaution. Scientists are constantly monitoring the health of these people. However, there are no reports of such infection from any other region of Russia.

What is Bird Flu?

Avian influenza or avian flu is called bird flu. Bird flu is a disease spread by birds. Humans get this disease by coming in contact with an infected bird, whether the bird is dead or alive, there is a risk of spreading the disease from both. The H5N1 virus is responsible for bird flu. Another strain of this is known as H5N8. It is more dangerous than its old variant.

Eating an infected bird can also cause this disease. If you are swimming in water and there has been an infected bird in that water, then it can also cause bird flu. Bird flu is a special type of breathing disease, this disease is so dangerous that it can even kill an infected person. In this disease, symptoms like sore throat, cough, pneumonia, fever, muscle pain are seen. The only way to avoid bird flu is to stay away from the dead and infected birds and keep a distance from those who have got this disease and take rest by taking healthy diet.
