Rahul Gandhi comments on I-T Raids, says Govt targeting those supporting Farmers

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has commented on the Income Tax department's raid on the house and office of actress Tapsee Pannu and filmmaker-director Anurag Kashyap. The former Congress president attacked the central government, explaining the 'meaning' of the three idioms. Rahul alleged that the central government is taking action to raid the farmers' supporters. Although Rahul has not taken the name of Anurag Kashyap or Taapsee in his tweet.

The Income Tax Department raid the houses and offices of Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and their partners on Wednesday. Officials said the raids were part of a tax evasion investigation against Phantom Films. He said that the raids were carried out at 30 places in Mumbai and Pune. Officials said that documents and computers etc. equipment have been seized from various premises.

Both Pannu and Kashyap are known to openly express their views on many issues. Both are shooting in Pune and it is believed that they were questioned by the Income Tax authorities as part of the preliminary inquiry during the raid.

On Wednesday, the raid by the Income Tax Department started in the morning and lasted till late in the night. The raiding officers said that documents and computers etc. equipment have been seized from various premises. This raid will continue on Thursday as well.
