Optical fibre-based service starts in Andaman and Nicobar says PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday gave a new gift to Andaman-Nicobar before 15 August. PM Modi inaugurated the submarine optical fiber cable connecting Chennai and Port Blair. The Prime Minister himself has given information about this by tweeting.

PM Modi tweeted and wrote, Today 10 August is a special day for my siblings of Andaman and Nicobar. Through this, the people of Andaman and Nicobar will be able to get fast speed internet, besides other seven islands will also get this benefit.

A Step to Self reliant India: PM Modi

PM Modi said in his address that today the country is moving ahead in the self-reliant India campaign, in this context, the Port Development-Water Way is being strengthened. Simultaneously, work is being done to connect the rivers to the port and to remove all the legal hurdles.

PM said about the project that if connectivity is good, then tourists will be able to stay there longer, which will create many employment opportunities. The PM said that the role of Andaman is more under the Act East Policy and will grow further. The Island Development Committee was formed by the government and the project is being completed rapidly.

The Prime Minister said that not just Digital India, but also the road-air route is being strengthened. Now, facility of repairing big ships will also be done in Andaman.

PM said that even the Corona crisis did not stop the work from being completed, it was the responsibility of the country to connect with Andaman and provide connectivity for the history of the country.
