New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will start 'Self-Reliant India Week' today. The Defense Minister's office gave this information. The office tweeted late on Sunday night that the program would be held at 3:30 pm.

Ban on import of Defense Goods:

Earlier, Singh made an important announcement on Sunday in a program organized through the digital medium as part of the 'Self-reliant India' initiative, saying that the Ministry of Defense has banned the import of 101 devices to boost production of defense goods.

Rajnath said that this decision will promote indigenization of defense production and at the same time will provide huge opportunities to the Indian defense industry. He said that it has been decided to stop the import of 101 devices, ranging from big guns to missiles.

The Defense Minister said that this exercise to ban these devices will be completed between 2020 and 2024. He said that in the coming time, other equipment of defense sector will be included in this list. Also, keeping in mind the requirements of the forces, the production deadline should be ensured, appropriate steps will also be taken for this.
