Lucknow: The Government of India will purchase 8.1 lakh doses of covaxine from Bharat Biotech to give the corona vaccine as a goodwill gesture to other countries. The Union Health Ministry on Saturday asked the Ministry of External Affairs to contact Bharat Biotech in this regard.

India buying Vaccine for other countries:

According to an office memorandum, GK Pillai, Under Secretary to the Government, made his stand in the meeting of the Secretary and Foreign Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Department.

It was revealed that as a goodwill, the Ministry of External Affairs would provide 8.1 lakh doses of biotech covariate of India to various countries. The memorandum also states that Bharat Biotech Limited is providing one crore doses to the government for vaccination campaign in India. The price of one dose is Rs 295 excluding GST. It further states that the Ministry of External Affairs can approach Bharat Biotech to get 8.1 lakh doses, which can be provided at the said price.
