The Election Commission has announced the date in the by-elections in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat etc.

New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced the date in the by-elections in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat etc.

Votes will be cast for 54 assembly seats in the states from November 3. Votes will be counted on November 10. However, the Election Commission has decided that there will be no by-election for 7 seats in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

Elections in Madhya Pradesh, UP and other states:

Elections will not be held on these seats, they include Rangapara in Assam, Sibsagar seat, Kuttanad and Chavara seats in Kerala, Tiruvottiyur, Gudiyattam and Falakat seats in Tamil Nadu. The Commission says that such inputs were received from these states, after which it was said to face difficulties in conducting elections.

By elections in May 2021:

Let me tell you that the Chief Secretary / Chief Election Officer of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal sent inputs to the Election Commission. After which, the tenure of the Legislative Assembly in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Bengal is till 31.05.2021, 24.05.2021 and 30.05.2021 respectively.

By polls on 56 assembly seats:

The Election Commission says that it has been decided not to hold elections on 7 seats based on the input from these states. Election Commission will decide on these states elections.

The by-election will be held on November 3 on 56 seats of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes will take place along with the Bihar Legislative Assembly on 10 November. By-elections will also be held on one seat of Lok Sabha from Bihar.
