5,151 projects will start in 100 smart cities: Hardeep Singh Puri

New Delhi: In a CII-Webinar on self-reliant India held on Tuesday, Union Minister HS Puri gave information about the Smart City Mission. He hoped that by 2030, 40 percent of our population will remain in our urban centers. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that in view of the increasing population by 2030, India will have to undertake urban development and build an urban area of ​​600 to 800 million square meters.

Projects cost Rs 2 Lakh to start in 100 smart cities:

He informed that 5,151 projects costing more than Rs 2 lakh crore will be started in 100 smart cities. Tenders have been withdrawn for a total of 4,700 projects so far.

The cost of these projects is about Rs 1,66,000 crore. In other words, this is 81 percent of the total proposed project. Due to the lockdown, the work of these projects under the Smart City Mission was stuck, which is now gaining momentum again.
