Bridge accident in America: Indian crew saved many lives, sent SOS a few minutes before collision

The 3 kilometer long 'Francis Scott Key' bridge collapsed due to a collision with a container ship in the city of Baltimore, Maryland state of America. This Singapore flagged container ship was going to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. All 22 members of the crew team on the ship were Indians. All of them are safe in this accident. The Governor of Maryland has called the crew of the container ship heroes. According to news agency AFP, Maryland Governor Wes Moore said, "These people are heroes. They gave an alert call (SOS call) at the last moment, which saved the lives of many people."

According to the report, Maryland Governor Wes Moore said, "The Singapore-flagged container ship was moving at a speed of 8 knots (9 mph). It had issued an alert call minutes before the collision with the bridge. "Helped save lives because we immediately stopped traffic on the bridge." This ship belonged to the management company Synergy Marine Group. There was no pollution of any kind due to the ship's collision with the bridge.

The accident happened around 1:30 pm on Monday night (11 am local time). The ship caught fire after hitting the bridge. It is believed that several vehicles and about 20 people fell into the Patapsco River after the ship collided with the bridge. The name of this ship was 'Dali'. Its management was handed over to Synergy Marine Group. The company said that all the crew members have been located and no one is injured.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said that some staff were doing maintenance work on the bridge at the time of the accident. He described this accident like an action film. Brandon Scott said, "We have to help the people affected by this accident. We have to think about them."

The company that owns the container ship said in a statement: "We are horrified by what happened in Baltimore. Our thoughts are with all those affected. We can confirm that the container ship, operated by charter ship company Synergy Group, The vessel 'DALI' was carrying cargo for a Maersk client. There were no Maersk crew or personnel on board."
