India will wait for the Canadian police to share information about the three Indian men it has arrested for the killing of a Khalistani terrorist last year. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar gave this statement on Saturday. S. Jaishankar said that whatever is happening in Canada on the issue of killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar is mostly due to internal politics there and has nothing to do with India. Canadian police on Friday said they are investigating whether the suspects had ties to the Indian government in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Jaishankar said he had seen news reports of the arrests and said the suspects were "obviously Indians with some kind of gang background... We'll have to wait for the police to tell us. But, as I said, one of our concerns is that we "Telling them... is that, you know, they have allowed organized crime from India, particularly from Punjab, to operate in Canada."

India's High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Verma said he expected regular updates from Canadian authorities regarding the three arrested Indians. Verma said, "I understand that the arrests have been made as a result of the investigation conducted by the relevant Canadian law enforcement agencies. This issue is internal to Canada and therefore we have nothing to say in this regard."

Police said that all three (all Indian citizens) were arrested in Edmonton city of Alberta on Friday. Nijjar, 45, was shot dead in June outside a gurdwara in Surrey, a Vancouver suburb with a large Sikh population. Since then, there has been tension in the relations between India and Canada.
