Rabat: A number of 52 people have been jailed after being suspected of having links with Islamic State (IS) in Morocco, said country’s Interior Ministry. The arrest took place during a nationwide operation.

“Moroccan security services led on July 19 a coordinated operation targeting 143 individuals suspected of having propensity to extremism and pledging allegiance to the IS,” said media reports.

Social networking sites are the major tool of the suspects which helped them spreading IS propaganda.

However, several weapons and bombs were seized during the operation.
