UP Rain Alert on 27 January brings heavy rain, strong winds, cold wave and temperature drop across Uttar Pradesh. Check city-wise weather impact, IMD warning and what people should expect in simple words.
Weather Today (PC- Social Media)
Uttar Pradesh is facing a sudden weather shift on 27 January as rain, strong winds and cold conditions arrive together. The weather department has warned many districts about moderate to heavy rain, thunder and fast-moving cold winds. Temperatures will fall after the rain, making the cold feel sharper than before. People should stay alert because weather can turn uncomfortable very quickly.
The weather in UP has been confusing for the past few days. Bright sunlight during daytime gives some relief, but mornings and nights are getting colder. Now rain is returning again, and with it comes more chill in the air. This change is due to a western disturbance affecting north India.
Why the Weather Changed Suddenly in UP
The main reason behind this rain and cold is a strong western disturbance. It is pulling moisture towards Uttar Pradesh and nearby states. Because of this system, clouds are covering large areas and winds are becoming stronger. The Indian Meteorological Department has clearly said this pattern may stay active for the next 24 to 36 hours.
During this period, maximum temperatures will remain almost the same at first. After the rain ends, temperatures may drop by three to four degrees Celsius. Minimum temperature is also expected to fall in the next two to three days, which means colder mornings ahead.
Rain and Wind Expected in Western Uttar Pradesh
Western Uttar Pradesh will see the strongest impact on 27 January. Areas like Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Shamli, Hapur and Bulandshahr may experience light to moderate rain. Some places could see heavier spells for a short time.
Thunder, lightning and fast winds moving at 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are also possible. In a few locations, hail may fall, especially during evening or night hours. Dark clouds will remain visible through the day, and fog may return after rainfall stops.
Eastern Uttar Pradesh Also Under Weather Alert
Eastern UP is not safe from this weather shift. Cities such as Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Barabanki and Bahraich are likely to get moderate rain. On 28 January, rain may continue in lighter form with thunder and gusty winds.
Cold winds will make the weather feel harsher even if rainfall is not very heavy. People who move out early morning or late night will feel the chill more than usual.
Districts Where IMD Issued Rain Warning
The weather department has issued alerts for many districts across the state. These include Meerut, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bahraich, Jhansi, Moradabad, Shravasti, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lalitpur, Barabanki, Sambhal, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Badaun, Aligarh, Baghpat, Shamli, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Etah, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad and Etawah.
In Lucknow, the maximum temperature may stay around 23 degree Celsius while the minimum could fall near 12 degree. After rain, colder nights are expected.
Temperature Drop and Cold Wave Effect
Muzaffarnagar has already recorded one of the lowest temperatures at around 5 degree Celsius. Agra and Bareilly are also seeing very low minimum temperatures. In many cities, night temperature has dropped below 10 degree.
After the rain ends, cold winds from the north will move in. This will increase the cold wave effect. Even people wearing warm clothes may feel uncomfortable due to wind chill.
Fog May Return After Rain
Dense fog is likely to return in many parts of western and central UP once the rain stops. Morning visibility could reduce again, affecting road and train travel. Drivers should be extra careful during early hours.
How This Weather May Affect Daily Life
This rain can affect traffic, local travel and outdoor work. Farmers may face issues if hail occurs, especially in crop areas. Cold and damp weather can also increase seasonal illnesses.
Schools and offices may not close, but parents should ensure children are properly dressed. Elderly people should avoid long exposure to cold winds.
What People Should Do During This Weather
It is better to stay indoors during thunderstorms and heavy rain. Avoid standing under trees or open areas when lightning occurs. Keep warm clothes ready because temperature will fall quickly after rain.
Weather updates should be followed regularly, as conditions can change fast. This alert is serious, but staying informed will help people stay safe and comfortable.
This UP rain alert for 27 January is a reminder that winter is not over yet. Rain, wind and cold together will test daily routines for a short time, but being prepared always makes it easier to handle.
