Swami Avimukteshwaranand has made it clear that he will not retreat, no matter how much pressure or trouble comes his way. Speaking in Prayagraj, he said the attacks and disruptions are happening because he raises his voice for cow protection. He added that the more he is troubled, the stronger his resolve becomes. This statement comes after days of tension between him and the Magh Mela administration.
The issue has now moved beyond a local disagreement. It has turned into a wider discussion on faith, authority, and freedom of expression during religious gatherings.
Seven Days of Tension Between Shankaracharya and Administration
For the past seven days, disagreement has continued between Swami Avimukteshwaranand and the mela administration in Prayagraj. The situation slowly escalated and reached a critical point after unrest at his camp.
The administration had raised objections related to his activities and public statements. Notices were sent. Questions were asked. The atmosphere around the camp became tense, and followers remained alert day and night.
What Happened Inside the Camp on Saturday Night
On Saturday night, the situation suddenly worsened. Around eight to ten youths reached the Shankaracharya’s camp carrying saffron flags. They raised loud slogans like Yogi Zindabad and I Love Bulldozer Baba. They tried to enter the camp without permission.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand was not present in the open area at that moment, but his disciples were there. Pushing and shouting followed. The entire disturbance lasted for nearly fifteen minutes, yet those minutes were enough to create fear and anger inside the camp.
Disciples Acted Fast to Prevent Bigger Trouble
As soon as the situation turned aggressive, disciples of Swami Avimukteshwaranand acted quickly. They surrounded the camp from all sides. Every entry point was blocked.
According to camp officials, the people who came were holding sticks and flags. They appeared ready to create chaos. The disciples tried to calm them and eventually forced them to leave. Many believe a serious incident could have happened if the situation had lasted longer.
Strong Words From Swami Avimukteshwaranand
After the incident, Swami Avimukteshwaranand spoke openly for the first time. He said the attack happened because he talks about cow protection. He claimed that this stand has made him uncomfortable for certain political groups.
He said clearly that no matter how much oppression is done, he will not step back. His words were firm. His tone was calm but resolute. He said pressure only strengthens his determination.
Police Complaint and Demand for Security
The camp in-charge later filed a complaint at the local police station. In the complaint, it was stated that antisocial elements tried to forcefully enter the camp and create violence.
The complaint also mentioned that proper security must be ensured. The camp authorities fear that if such incidents repeat, lives could be at risk. They demanded protection for Swami Avimukteshwaranand and his followers.
Earlier Clash During Mauni Amavasya Still Fresh
This is not the first time tension has surfaced. On January 18, during Mauni Amavasya, Swami Avimukteshwaranand was going for a holy dip in a palanquin. Police stopped him and asked him to walk instead.
His disciples protested. Pushing occurred. Angered by this, the Shankaracharya sat on a protest outside his camp. That incident left deep resentment and laid the ground for current disputes.
Administration Issued Notices and Warning
After the Mauni Amavasya incident, the administration issued two notices within 48 hours. One questioned the use of the Shankaracharya title. The other sought clarification on the Mauni Amavasya dispute.
There was even a warning about banning him permanently from the Magh Mela. Swami Avimukteshwaranand replied to both notices, but the tension never really settled.
Political Slogans Add Fuel to the Fire
The slogans raised during the camp unrest have added a political angle to the issue. Many believe religious spaces should remain free from political slogans. Others argue freedom of expression applies everywhere.
This mix of faith and politics has made the matter more sensitive. It has also drawn wider public attention beyond Prayagraj.
Why This Issue Matters Beyond One Camp
This controversy is not just about one saint or one camp. It reflects growing friction between religious leaders and administration during large gatherings.
It raises questions about safety, authority, and respect during spiritual events. The coming days will decide whether the situation cools down or grows further.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand has made his stand clear. He will not move back. The administration now faces the challenge of maintaining peace without deepening the divide.
