Uttar Pradesh Jail minister Ramuwali welcomed his candidature.

- The Samajwadi Party whom Sibal has defended in the Supreme Court is likely to come to his rescue
- The Congress is also in touch with other parties for support.
- The election to fill eleven vacancies in the Rajya Sabha from the state will be held nextm month.
