Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi recommending CBI inquiry regarding doping allegations over Indian wrestler Narsingh Yadav.

“Akhilesh said CBI probe will be able to expose the reality behind the charges levelled against the Narsingh because of which he was unable to participate in the Rio Olympics, a government release said.

In his letter, Akhilesh also mentioned Narsingh’s letter saying he has become a prey of a conspiracy. UP CM wrote that Narsingh has recently met him and informed about his problem.

Earlier, Wrestling Federation of India director Brijbhushan Sharan Singh had said that he will request PM Modi for a CBI inquiry in Narsingh’s matter.

After a successful appeal by the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA), Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had banned Indian wrestler Narsingh Yadav during Rio 2016 for four years.
