Supreme Court cancels bail of RJD’s legislator Rajaballabh Yadav

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled the bail of Rashtriya Janata Dal legislator Rajaballabh Yadav who was accused of raping a minor girl.

A bench of Justice AK Sikri and Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre gave their verdict while responding to the plea filed by the Bihar government challenging the bail of the RJD leader. Yadav was accused of raping a minor girl at his residence on February 6th last.

According to the police sources the apex court had asked whether Yadav was already released following the bail granted by Patna High Court earlier and when it was informed that he was not released, the bench stated, "Let him remain in jail."

It may be recalled that Yadav was granted bail by the Patna High Court on September 30 last. The court, however, on November 8 last ordered him to surrender so that the victim could record her statement before the trial court.
