Allahabad : In a case seeking direction for medical termination of pregnancy of a rape victim, the Allahabad High Court on Monday asked the Chief Medical Officer in Bareilly to take a decision in accordance with the law.
Justice RD Khare passed this order on a petition filed by Abid Khan . the victim's girl who resides in the district.
The petitioner had alleged that Asif and three others had raped her daughter by making a false promise of marrying her. However, when the medical examination of the victim was done she was pregnant for 20 weeks.
He had approached the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in the light of this report who dismissed his abortion plea. Later, Additional Sessions Judge also dismissed his petition. He then moved the High Court.

While asking the CMO to do the needful, the High Court has asked the victim's father to make a formal request to him.
