Pramod Sawant takes oath as Goa CM, Deputy CMs to be declared today

Vijai Sardesai from the Goa Forward Party and Sudin Dhavalikar from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, both alliance partners, have been inducted as Deputy Chief Ministers, Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik told reporters on the sidelines of the oath-taking ceremony at Raj Bhavan here.

Panaji: The former Speaker of Goa legislative assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party MLA, Pramod Sawant on Tuesday took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Goa in a ceremony held at the wee hours of the day. The deputy chief ministers are likely to be declared by the end of the day.

The 45-year-old takes over from former defence minister and four-time CM of Goa Manohar Parrikar, who was cremated at the Miramar beach on Monday.

Sawant, was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Mridula Sinha at a formal ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan at 2 am.

An Ayurveda practitioner by profession, Sawant represents the Sanquelim constituency in the Goa.

BJP somehow managed to refresh its political alliance in Goa after day long negotiation with other party leaders.
