Lucknow: If the high percentage of healthy tipplers of the richer countries can be attributed to the fact that they are heavy beer gulpers, it is no wonder that Indian tipplers, generally low in health, are low consumers of beer.

As per a latest survey, about 93 per cent of liquor consumed in India is hard liquour with contribution of beer stood at about 7 per cent. If this, in anyway, can be linked to the benefits of beer, then it is self-explanatory that Indian drinkers stand nowhere near their counterparts of United States, England, China, Brazil or Russia where the consumptiom of beer is very very high as compared to hard drinks.
