New Delhi: Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday said that the ticket prices of Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will be less than airfare and the project will be completed by 2023-24.
Calling the project achievable during a Question hour in the Lok Sabha, Suresh Prabhu said-
- Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail project has been sanctioned with technical and financial assistance from government of Japan. Joint feasibility study for Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail project has already been done by JICA.
- On the basis of negotiations held with government of Japan and JICA, government of India has sanctioned Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed train project with financial and technical assistance from government of Japan for commissioning targeted in 2023-24.
Prabhu informed that nine corridors have been identified for the high-speed train. The corridors are- Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Kanpur, Chennai-Bengalur-Mysore, Chennai-Hyderabad, Mumbai-Goa, Nagpur-Bilaspur, Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Nagpur-Sikandarabad.
