New Delhi: Condemning the Uri terror attack in which 18 Indian soldiers were killed, France on Friday said it stood with India in the struggle against terrorism and vowed to strengthen counter-terror cooperation with the latter.
The position of France was conveyed by the country’s defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to Premiere Narendra Modi while the former was in New Delhi for signing a 7.8 million deal for Rafale fighter jets.
“The French Defence Minister mourned the victims of the Uri terror attack and deplored cross-border terrorism,” said a Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) statement.
It may be mentioned that India signed a deal with France for the purchase of 36 high-tech Rafael Fighter planes. The deal has been sealed by Defence Minister of India Manohar Parrikar and his French Counterpart.
