Government to build 15,520 km road network on IB, intruders will not be able to enter from China, Pakistan and Bangladesh

According to the master plan document, in Phase-1, a total of 2379 km of two-lane national highways will be built in Arunachal Pradesh.

The central government is building a strategically important 15,520 km border road network to secure the country's borders. The government has already built 3600 km of road, while 6700 km of road is under construction. 5220 km border road network will be built in Phase-1 and Phase-2 of the Master Plan Phase 2047 of Modi Government 3.0. According to the master plan document, in Phase-1, a total of 2379 km of two-lane national highways will be built in Arunachal Pradesh.

It is said that the government will invest Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh crore on setting up the border road network. However, its actual cost will be revealed after the project report is prepared. A senior official of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that there is an 18,000 km long national highway around India's border. It is 13,300 km parallel and 4700 km perpendicular.

In the master plan, these routes will be widened to build new two-lane national highways for the border. Apart from this, connecting highways connecting the existing highways around the border will also be built. India shares 15,106 km of international land border with China, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries.

Special focus on China-Pak border

The government has built about 3600 km of national highways on the border. 95 percent of these are built on the Pakistan and China border. Work is going on on 250 national highway projects on the borders of these two neighboring countries.
