New Delhi: Corona cases may be decreasing in the country, but a statement by Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization (WHO), has raised concerns again. Swaminathan has said that covid-19 in India is kind of entering the endemic stage of the pandemic, where there is a low or moderate level of infection.

Coronavirus in India:

The endemic stage is when a population learns to live with the virus. This is completely different from the pandemic phase, where the virus dominates the population. This means that India will have to wait a long time to get rid of Corona.

Swaminathan said in an interview that we are probably entering a phase of endemicity, where there is low level transmission or medium level transmission, although we are not seeing the kind of tremendous growth and conditions like we have seen some Saw it months ago.

When Swaminathan was asked why such a situation is arising in India, she said that it is happening because of the diversity of population and the state of immunity in different parts of India. It is quite possible that this volatile situation may continue like this.

Will achieve 70% immunization target by the end of 2022: Swaminathan

She expressed hope that by the end of the year 2022, we will be in a position that we will achieve the target of 70 percent vaccination and then the situation in the country can return to normal. On the spread of corona among children, Swaminathan said that parents need not panic. She said that we look at the 'sero survey' and what we have learned from other countries shows that it is possible that children can be infected. However, most children fortunately have a very mild illness.
