Two killed, several injured in Israel’s car parking collapse
Jerusalem: At least two persons were killed and several others injured after a multilevel underground car parking garage collapsed in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv on Monday.
According to reports, the initial collapse was followed by falling of a crane which brought down more parts of the multi-storey building. At least 20 injured people were rushed to a nearby hospital from the site. As many as seven persons were feared trapped under the rubble and the rescuers were still searching for them.
The incident took place at a commercial locality in western Tel Aviv called Ramat Hahayil which is home to many high-tech businesses.
Other highlights:
- Police and rescue teams were dispatched to the site soon after the mishap took place.
- “There are people still buried under the debris,” said a police official.
- People were moved away from the area as it was suspected that other parts of the building could also collapse.
