You may have heard about world’s oldest city, cleanest city, most beautiful city, hi-tech city and biggest city. But have you ever heard about world’s largest and underground city which was discovered in Turkey recently. About 20 thousand people lived in this beautiful and happy city. It was said that there was around 200 towns in this centuries-old underground city

According to a report published in The Sun, a tunnel was found named Derinkuyu in Turkey’s Cappadocia. This city was established in this tunnel. There are 600 entry gates in this 11 layers tunnel. In this underground city, people had luxurious houses, community buildings, drinking water balls, churches and cemeteries. There were huge buildings. Entrance gates were made with stone whose weight was around 200-500 kg and it was 1.5 meter long.

People got to know about this city in 1963 for the first time. There was an interesting story behind this. A rich men’s chicken suddenly started disappearing. When he searched for them everywhere for the chickens, then he found some cracks in the basement of his house. He found himself staring at a tunnel inside in this crack. After this, he broke the walls and tunnel was there. Further excavations were conducted at the site under the supervision of archaeologists, it was found that more than 500 tunnels were there. In this tunnel things like underground houses, schools, ration warehouses, wineries and churches were available. The research work continued for about 20 years and then in 1985, Derinkuyu was included in the list of UNESCO's World Heritage.

However it is not known about the years of its construction but it is considered to be around 1000 years old city.
