70 killed, more than 150 injured in terror attack in Moscow

More than 70 people have been killed and about 150 injured after gunmen opened fire at a concert hall in Moscow.

The condition of some of the people injured in the attack is said to be critical. Children are also included among the injured.

The terrorist organization ISIS said in a statement on the Telegram messaging app that IS fighters "attacked a large gathering on the outskirts of the Russian capital Moscow." The attackers "have safely returned to their bases".

On the basis of the video that has surfaced, it is being said that the attack was carried out by 6 gunmen. No one has been arrested.

According to a journalist from the RIA Novosti news agency present at the scene, the attackers entered the building and opened fire. Then the building was set on fire. Video footage published on Russian social media channels shows a massive fire in the building.

Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian news agencies that an investigation into the terrorist attack has been started. Every moment update on this matter is being given to President Vladimir Putin.

Putin wished the injured person a speedy recovery. Russian news agencies quoted Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova as saying, "The president wished everyone a speedy recovery and expressed his gratitude to the doctors." Putin will also give a statement soon on the Moscow attack.

Many countries including the European Union, France, Spain and Italy condemned the attack. The US described the attack as "appalling" and said there was no immediate indication of any link to the Ukraine war. Ukraine's president said Kiev had "nothing to do" with the attack.

A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the United States had warned Russia about the possibility of an attack in recent weeks.

Due to the attack, all the programs taking place in Russia this weekend have been cancelled. Holi programs are also included in this.
