Putin Praises PM Modi's Unyielding Stand: A Testament to India-Russia Relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin has showered commendations on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, lauding his unyielding stance in defending India's national interests. Speaking at the 14th VTB Investment Forum 'Russia Calling,' Putin expressed his admiration for Modi's ability to withstand pressure and make decisions aligned with India's welfare.

According to the Russian President's Office, Putin stated, "I cannot imagine that Modi could be intimidated, intimidated, or forced to take any actions, steps, and decisions that are contrary to the national interests of India and the Indian people."

Putin marveled at Modi's robust position in safeguarding the nation's interests, emphasizing that there is external pressure, though Modi and he have never discussed it directly. This endorsement comes as a testament to the strong bond and mutual respect between the leaders of India and Russia.

Highlighting the bilateral relations, Putin underscored that the policy pursued by PM Modi serves as the primary guarantor of the growing ties between the two nations. He acknowledged that India and Russia's relations have been progressing in various dimensions, emphasizing the significant role played by Modi's strategic policies.

On the subject of accelerating bilateral trade, Putin noted the positive trajectory of relations, stating, "I would like to say that relations between Russia and India are developing progressively in all directions, and the main guarantor of this is the policy pursued by Prime Minister Mr. Modi."

While acknowledging the current trade turnover between the two countries, Putin expressed optimism about its substantial growth. He recognized India's advantages, especially in receiving preferences due to discounts on Russian energy resources.

Putin stated, "Yes, we all understand that, to a large extent, India receives preferences due to discounts on Russian energy resources. Well, he's actually doing the right thing."

The Russian President emphasized the need to leverage the economic potential between the two nations further. He compared India and Russia's standings in the global ranking of the world's economies by purchasing power parity and economic volume, positioning them as the third and fifth-largest economies, respectively.

Putin urged an increase in trade turnover between Russia and India, suggesting that India's position as the third-largest economy in the world by purchasing power parity should be reflected in their trade relations.

Touching upon infrastructure development, Putin expressed his intention to discuss the North-South Corridor with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, indicating India's interest in implementing such routes.

He also advocated for the development of the Northern Sea Route, considering it a promising direction in logistics. The Russian President stressed the importance of enhancing financial infrastructure and promoting the use of national currencies in mutual settlements.

This praise from Putin echoes the positive sentiments expressed by Russia towards India's foreign policy. It emphasizes the shared values of multipolarity, sovereignty, and the evolving global structure, where India's role is increasingly recognized.
