New Delhi: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has categorically refused to resign over the matter of violating strict restrictions by taxing parties during the Corona period. However, in the meantime, he has welcomed the ongoing police investigation in this matter. At the same time, the opposition has demanded his resignation.

The Partygate Scandal:

In fact, on Wednesday, Labor Party leader Keir Starmer had asked PM Johnson whether he was resigning as Prime Minister, alleging violation of the ministerial code of conduct. To this, Johnson replied - No. Apart from Starmer, other opposition leaders also demanded his resignation. Meanwhile, by counting the achievements of his government, Johnson also appeared to distract attention from the Partygate case.

Boris Johnson refuses to resign:

Boris Johnson said he would not resign despite mounting pressure to step down over the so-called Partygate scandal. Johnson said that I welcome the investigation of Scotland Yard Police into all cases related to alleged lockdown violations at 10 Downing Street and other government offices during the year 2020-21.

Here, there were speculations that the investigation report of the Internal Cabinet Office from the police investigation may take some more time. But ministers indicated on Wednesday that the investigation report, headed by senior bureaucrat Sue Grey, had been prepared and would be released soon.

But now the most important thing to note is whether the results of the report will be published in detail. The Prime Minister's Office has to take a decision on this. Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Johnson said on Tuesday that he had ordered an independent investigation a few weeks ago. The purpose of this is to find out whether there was a violation of covid related rules in these programs or not.

Johnson said he welcomes the Metropolitan Police's investigation into the matter, as he hopes it will make things clearer to the public. He said that this investigation is necessary and helpful to clarify the matter. The Prime Minister's Office spokesperson reiterated once again that the British Prime Minister does not believe he has broken any law.

The spokesman said that instead of conducting a legal hearing on violation of any law related to covid lockdown, they give notice of fixed penalty or fine is imposed. This is why publishing report is not seen as a legal risk.
