Quetta: About 12 people were injured in a blast near Al Khair Hospital on Zarghon road at Quetta city in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Thursday, police said.

According to media reports, judge of Balochistan Federal Shariat Court (BFSC) Zahoor Shawani was the prime target in the attack.

Police and local authorities reached the spot immediately after the attack. Fortunately, no loss of life took place in the attack.

Severely injured civilians were rushed to a nearby hospital.

It may be mentioned that a few days ago at least 75 people had lost their lives and 115 were injured in an attack in the same area.

After the blast, Pakistan’s Home Minister said-

  • These blasts are aimed at sabotaging Independence Day (August 14) activities in Balochistan.
  • I believe these cowardly acts will not bring down our morale. We are in a conflict zone and we will fight with renewed resolve.
