Pakistan bans Hafiz Saeed-led terror group Jamat-ud-Dawa

Islamabad: After the Pulwama attack, India's diplomatic efforts to create pressure on Pakistan to weed out its terror groups have started to show its effect. On Thursday the safe heaven for terrorists, Pakistan banned 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed-led Jamat-ud-Dawa and its charity wing Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation under growing International pressure.

The decision to ban these groups was taken at a meeting of National Security Committee (NSC) held at the Prime Minister’s Office, a statement from the Interior Ministry informed.

Such efforts on Pakistan's part were also claimed on January 9, when it told the Asia Pacific Group that it has frozen the accounts and assets of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa and its welfare wing the Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation. Pakistan also claimed to have seized assets of other banned outfits including the Da’ish, Taliban, Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Haqqani Network, according to the briefing.
