Baltimore: United States of America (USA) President, Barack Obama visited a mosque in the US on Wednesday for the first time in his presidency. US President in his speech at the Islamic Society of Baltimore said “I want to say two words Muslim Americans don’t hear often enough: Thank you, and We are one American family.”

“We have heard inexcusable political rhetoric against Muslim Americans that has no place in our country,” Mr. Obama said. “We have to reject a politics that seeks to manipulate prejudice or bias and targets people because of religion.”

Mosque visit of Obama-

  • Obama referred teachings of holy Quran in his speech.
  • Obama also ridiculed critics who claims that he can not effectively fight against terrorism.
  • Obama offered a blanket pledge that the FBI and other agencies will treat American Muslims with respect in terrorism investigations.
  • He is not the first president to visit a mosque. Republican George W. Bush visited a mosque after the 9/11 attacks.
